The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) was a foreign virus or sickness to everyone in the village. No one wanted to know anything about this virus. There were rumours of people dying in the area from this sickness but it was all hush, hush. To die from AIDS in the village was very shameful. And the shame was greater for a man of Jimmy's standing. A man well respected, a former headmaster, leader and a pillar of the community.
